This will restore the backup of Windows Live Mail that we covered in the last post.  Hopefully you have your flash drive, CD, backup drive, or DVD with the backup folders from the last post on how to backup Windows Live Mail.

Restoring Messages:

  • Open Windows Live Mail and at the top menu click File/Import and choose messages.
  • Click Windows Live Mail then click Next.
  • Browse to the location of your backup folders on your Flash Drive, backup drive, CD, or DVD and go into the Messages folder, then click Ok.
  • Leave All Folders selected, and click Next.
  • Click Finish

Restoring Contacts:

  • Open Windows Live Mail and open your Address Book.
  • At the top menu, click File/Import and choose Comma Separated Values (.CSV)
  • Browse to your Contacts backup folder and click on the MyContacts.csv and click Open
  • Click Next
  • Put a Check Mark by all the field names, and click Finish

Restoring Email Accounts:

  • Open Windows Live Mail and at the top menu click Tools/Accounts
  • Click Import at the right menu of the window that comes up.
  • Browse to your Accounts backup folder and select the .iaf file, then click Open.
  • If you have multiple email accounts saved, repeat this process for each email account.
